PAT Testing for Tradespeople

Tradespeople

High Frequency PAT Testing

Because of the nature of the work for tradespeople, electrical appliances often suffer a lot of wear and tear and it is important to carry out more frequent inspections than would be necessary in ordinary circumstances. The IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment to meet the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 recommends that all Construction Site 110V equipment is subject to a formal recorded Combined Inspection and Testing every three months.

You have a statutory obligation to ensure that all of your appliances are safe to use. Construction site Health & Safety management is increasingly demanding contractors and sub-contractors to provide evidence that the portable electrical appliances entering their sites are covered by a current test certificate. Insurance companies are also becoming increasingly vigilant in investigating accident claims to ensure that any portable appliances involved in such incidents were safe to use.

At Selectatest we appreciate that being without your equipment while it is being PAT Tested can be highly inconvenient, so we aim to take the difficulty out of the process by fitting the testing around your schedule. We are able to come test your appliances wherever you are, or if you are local to our offices you can drop your equipment off with us for testing at a time that you won’t be needing them. We regularly carry out PAT Testing for whole groups of trades workers on-site while they are in meetings; whatever the circumstances, we like to do what we can to minimise the disruption to your work.
